Trade Journal

Track your trades and improve your performance with detailed journaling.

Why Keep a Trade Journal?

A trade journal helps you:

  • Track performance - Monitor win rate, P&L, and other metrics
  • Identify patterns - Find what works and what doesn't
  • Learn from mistakes - Document and avoid repeating errors
  • Stay disciplined - Encourage thoughtful trading
  • Build confidence - Review successful trades

Accessing the Journal

The trade journal is accessible from:

  • The Trade Journal tab on the trading page
  • Directly linked from closed positions

Journal Entries

Each journal entry can include:

Trade Details (Auto-filled)

  • Symbol and side
  • Entry and exit prices
  • Position size and leverage
  • P&L (absolute and percentage)
  • Open and close timestamps
  • SL/TP levels used

Your Notes

  • Entry reason - Why you took this trade
  • Setup type - Breakout, pullback, reversal, etc.
  • Market conditions - Trend, range, volatile, etc.
  • Exit reason - Hit TP, SL, or manual exit
  • Emotions - How you felt during the trade
  • Lessons learned - What you can improve
Be Honest

The value of a journal comes from honest self-assessment. Document both your wins and losses objectively.

Adding a Journal Entry

  1. 1. Go to the Trade Journal tab
  2. 2. Click Add Entry or select a closed trade
  3. 3. Fill in trade details (or let them auto-fill)
  4. 4. Add your notes and analysis
  5. 5. Save the entry

Reviewing Your Journal

Regular review helps identify patterns:

Daily Review

  • Review trades from today
  • Document any immediate lessons
  • Plan for tomorrow

Weekly Review

  • Calculate weekly P&L and win rate
  • Identify best and worst trades
  • Look for recurring patterns
  • Adjust strategy if needed

Monthly Review

  • Analyze overall performance
  • Review strategy effectiveness
  • Set goals for next month
  • Update trading rules if needed
